Slated to arrive Friday, March 25 on the streamer, we’re giving fans a behind-the-curtain look with an exclusive clip from the film. With songs like “drivers license”, “treat”, “Good 4 U” and the title “sour”, the album arrived in May 2021, and since then has become a big hit.
But the process was a bit more tedious for the interpreter working on ACID for a year in the studio before fans were finally allowed to listen, and in the preview above, all that hard work comes to an end when Rodrigo and his producer, Dan Nigro, finish the album. As they stand together in the studio listening to the final song run out, there is a sense of finality.
The bittersweet takes over as Rodrigo and Nigro decide the album is ready and she shouts, “I’m going to cry, I’m going to cry.” Nigro echoes her adding “what a sad moment”.
“It’s been so weird, it’s been a weird year of my life in this studio,” Rodrigo adds, acknowledging the accomplishment and the varied emotions she feels.
“Nothing will ever be the same again,” notes Nigro, and it really is. Since ACID debuted, Rodrigo went from being the star of HSMTMTS to a global superstar known to many. And while the duo are happy with the album’s conclusion in the clip above, Rodrigo says, “Hopefully it won’t be so sad on the next album.”
