Hilarious footage of a woman’s first driving lesson is going viral

Hilarious footage of a terrified woman’s first driving lesson has gone viral after it showed her confessing her fear and nearly crashing.

Nervous Caroline Ndlovu holds the steering wheel tight and breathes heavily in the dashcam video as Joshua Rubin takes her for a spin.

She looks at the road in front of her with her eyes wide open and says to her teacher “I don’t know what I’m doing” between nervous bursts of laughter.

In a terrifying moment, Caroline slams her foot on the brake and stops before accelerating almost into the wall of a garage.

She grips the steering wheel with both hands and screams as Joshua tries to steer, yells at him to “stop” and desperately pulls the handbrake to avoid disaster.

The full six-minute video, titled ‘Driving with Caroline’, has been viewed more than 330,000 times after Joshua posted it on Facebook this week.

After getting into the car, Caroline looks nervous and fidgets in her seat as she puts on her seat belt and starts the vehicle, which has a dog in the back seat.

While driving in Cape Town, South Africa, Caroline silences Joshua as he tries to compliment her and later tells her, “I’m scared, I’m telling you I’m so scared.”

She adds, carefully turning the steering wheel: “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Throughout the lesson, Joshua repeatedly encourages her and reassures her that she is in good hands.

She said, “These cars are coming my way. Josh, I hope you’re watching.”

He replies: “Don’t worry, I have my hand on the handbrake.”

Caroline, who has worked for the Rubin family for over ten years, seems to be gaining confidence by cracking jokes, but she’s still worried about other cars on the road.

She says, “It’s so hard for me. I’m telling you, I’m scared. I’m going to crash this car.”

Joshua tells him, “You said you wanted to learn.”

Caroline says, “I want to learn but I’m so scared.”

Soon she comes to an abrupt halt, Josh telling her to “go straight ahead” waiting for the cars approaching behind them to pass.

As Caroline moves forward, Joshua tells her to “go left” before a look of terror crosses her face and she begins to scream.

Joshua grabs the steering wheel and shouts “stop” before pulling the emergency brake to immobilize the car.

They look at each other – with Joshua holding a hand over his mouth in shock and Caroline’s hands still gripping the steering wheel – and laugh.

Joshua then flips the camera and shows a garage a few feet ahead of them.

He says, “Just for reference, we almost went straight to this guy’s garage.”

Caroline said moments later, “I need some water…to calm me down. I almost died.”

Josh responds, “I almost got killed by you.”

As the lesson finally draws to a close, Caroline stops abruptly, pushes Joshua forward in his seat and says, as she struggles to remove the key, “Thank God I’m still alive.”

Viewers found the footage hilarious and Caroline and Joshua endearing.

A Facebook user called Rhobine wrote: “It was so nice to watch Caroline and Josh play well, you guys are awesome.”

Shamiso added, “Josh, you’re awesome! And Caroline is awesome. I love your relationship.”

Joshua told News 24: “I’ve been making videos since I was ten years old and Caroline has always been the star of it.

“I think it’s definitely the funniest one yet.

“He’s definitely the funniest character I’ve ever met.”
