Student News: Quaker Valley Distracted Driving Event, College News and More

Distracted driving event

Students at Quaker Valley High School came together on April 21 to learn more about distracted driving and to pledge not to be distracted while driving. The students signed a distracted driving awareness banner, which is now displayed in the high school where other students can sign their names.

The event, sponsored by AAA, PennDOT and Impact Teen Drivers, encourages students to be safe on the road (April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month). The event reminds drivers of all ages of the dangers of being distracted while driving.

Common distractions for drivers include cell phones, eating and drinking, changing settings in the vehicle, brushing their hair and applying makeup.

Quaker Valley School Police Chief Aaron Vanatta gave away a free driving lesson with driving school Cindy Cohen at the event. Dominique Florio won the driving lesson.
