Special driving lessons for Hampshires aged 10-17

A SPECIALIST driver training program, which allows 10-17 year olds to get behind the wheel, is launched at a new Winchester location.

Young Driver will open at Worthy Down Barracks on Saturday 6th November when the car park will be transformed into a realistic road system so youngsters can work on a range of driving skills and manoeuvres. Events will take place on select weekend dates throughout the year.

Young Driver is the UK’s largest provider of driving lessons for pre-17s, having sold over 1,000,000 lessons at over 70 locations across the UK, including Westquay in Southampton.

The youngsters take lessons in the new dual-control Vauxhall Corsa SE Premium, with highly trained licensed driving instructors.

A road system is created, with traffic signs, roundabouts and junctions, as well as special areas to practice maneuvers such as steering control and parking. Lessons emphasize safety and fun and encourage youngsters to think about how to drive responsibly, giving them time to hone driving skills such as shifting, braking and steering without the pressures of the public highway.

Sue Waterfield, Head of Marketing at Young Driver, said: “We’re really excited to launch Worthy Down. This is a much larger site than our others in the area, offering plenty of opportunities for youngsters to try out many different driving skills and techniques, whether they are beginners or have already taken a few lessons. in another of our sites. ”

Half-hour or one-hour lessons must be booked in advance and prices start from £44.99.
