‍‍‍‍Shady driving schools trick gullible learners in Hyderabad | #KhabarLive

In Hyderabad, many unlicensed driving schools operate brazenly. Their operation appears to have gone unnoticed by the state Department of Transportation. At present, he has no record of unauthorized driving schools.

As more and more people enroll in these courses in response to high demand, it is now easier to obtain new driver’s licenses. Satyavathi, a resident of LB Nagar and headmistress of a school, is unable to reverse her Renault Kwid properly. She misses other necessities and doesn’t know where the puncture kit is. She admits that she drives to work every day in her car, but “while I’m driving, I’m not confident at all. I finished my driving course and got my license, but I still lack confidence.

Thanks to fake driving schools that have sprung up all over the city, hundreds of people like her are being issued a driver’s license every month despite questionable driving abilities. In the Twin Cities and the Ranga Reddy area, there are more than 700 driving schools. Most are prohibited; not only do they lack proper infrastructure, but they are not authorized to process aspirants’ driving licenses. They do this by charging between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000 for training and obtaining a license.

Under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, driving schools must give theory lessons to applicants who are preparing for a learner’s licence. These should cover the rules of the road, make them understand signal systems and other basics. A person can only apply for a learner’s permit after completing the theory part.

But when you join a driving school, which charges Rs 9,000, you get a learner’s license in 3-4 days. Without theoretical lessons, the schools offer journeys of six km per day. After a month, they hand over the permit.

“I appeared for an LLR test last year at Hyderabad South Zone. I did absolutely nothing with the computer test. In fact, RTA staff answered the questions on my behalf, and I was successful. The test for a permanent driver’s license was also similar,” says Yousuf Ahmed, a shopkeeper from Falaknuma.

Mr. Dayanand, General Secretary of the Telangana Auto and Motor Vehicle Welfare Union, said many illegal schools have sprung up; they don’t bother to follow the safety standards given by the RTA. No proper training is provided by these schools, which leads to accidents. Many schools do not have proper safety mechanisms to teach driving skills; they put people’s lives in danger. “There are about 500 unauthorized driving schools operating without renewing their license in the city. Each motricity school must renew its license once every five years. However, many do not and operate freely,” Dayanand added.

He also alleged that several branches of driving schools are operated with a single permit. “A registered driving school in Saidabad runs many branches in other regions with the same permit, which is a clear violation; but so far no action has been taken against them.

He pointed out that to start a driving school, the minimum qualification is an automotive engineering degree along with a heavy driving license and a separate classroom for theory lessons. There are hardly any driving schools that have such facilities. Most run without a valid license through Hyderabad. #KhabarLive #hydnews #hyderabadlive #hyderabadi
