Leading cement manufacturer, Dangote Cement Plc, on Wednesday launched the Dangote Articulated Truck Driving School in a bid to inculcate a culture of safe driving in its drivers to stem the tide of road accidents.
Opening the school in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), according to company management, would also enable drivers to become better road users.
The Academy, which was officially commissioned by Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi, has been described as historic and unique.
The new truck drivers academy, according to Oyeyemi, is a significant step forward that will not only benefit the Dangote Group but Nigeria as a whole.
He praised Dangote Group Chairman and CEO Alhaji Aliko Dangote for taking “a big step” towards reducing truck accidents.
In his remarks, the National Logistics Manager of Dangote Cement (transportation section), Mr. Juan Carlos Rincon, said that the new school is an expression of the company’s determination to end road accidents. in the country.
Also speaking, Prof. Idris Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), represented by Engineer S. M. Yusuf, said that NBTE will partner with Dangote Cement Plc for successful accreditation and the start of the new school.
In his remarks, the Bajana of Obajana, Oba Idowu Isenibi, said he was optimistic that the school will help fight car accidents in the country, although he described Dangote Group Chairman Aliko Dangote as a “savior and God sent to their communities”. which should be emulated by other investors in the country.
Along the same lines, Olu of Akpata Oba Frederick Balogun urged other investors to emulate the company.
Dangote Cement Transport and FRSC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on how to cooperate to ensure the success of the school.
