From BBN staff: Last night UDP caretaker for the Freetown Division, Orson Elrington, 44, was involved in a traffic accident outside Belize Primary School in Belize City.
Elrington was allegedly driving his 2010 Ford Explorer when it sped through the ambulance emergency ramp into Princess Margaret Drive at full speed and collided with the left front fender on the driver’s side of a 2009 Nissan Cube, according to a police report.
Police were called after both drivers denied taking responsibility for the accident.
When police checked Elrington’s vehicle, they noticed that his insurance had expired on May 16, 2022. As a result, Elrington was charged with “driving a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance” .
Elrington is also “awaiting a summons for driving without care and attention”.
He was offered $500 bond and is due in trial court on June 3, 2022.
