Man charged with violent attempted hijacking involving driving school instructors in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, New Jersey (WABC) – Police charge a man with attacking and attempting to hijack driving school instructors in New Jersey.

Isiah Pringle was arrested in Hackensack on Friday.

Police said he approached mature students and their teachers while taking driving lessons in a Stop and Shop parking lot around 10:55 a.m.

They say Pringle tried to pull a female driver out of a car. When another instructor intervened, officers said Pringle grabbed a broomstick and started beating him.

Authorities say Anthonia Egegbara, 29, of Queens, is now charged with attempted murder.

The instructor pushed Pringle away, hopped into his own car, and drove off.

The suspect was found a few streets away by police and taken into custody.

The instructor was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

A man stabbed three of his neighbors, including one fatally, before committing suicide in the town of Beekman on Wednesday evening, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Pringle has been charged with carjacking and possession of a weapon.
