Man charged in violent carjacking attempt involving driving instructors in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. (WABC) – Police are charging a man with attacking and attempting to hijack driving instructors in New Jersey.

Isiah Pringle was arrested Friday in Hackensack.

Police said he approached adult students and their teachers as they took driving lessons in a Stop and Shop parking lot around 10:55 a.m.

They say Pringle tried to pull a female driver out of a car. When another instructor intervened, officers said Pringle grabbed a broomstick and began beating him.

Authorities say Anthonia Egegbara, 29, of Queens, is now charged with attempted murder.

The instructor fought Pringle, jumped into his own car and drove off.

The suspect was found a few blocks away by police and taken into custody.

The instructor was not seriously injured and refused to receive medical attention.

A man stabbed three of his neighbors, including one to death, before killing himself in the town of Beekman on Wednesday night, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Pringle was charged with carjacking and possession of a weapon.
