David Koechner arrested for impaired driving

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Actor and comedian David Koechner was arrested for driving a vehicle while impaired in Ohio earlier this month.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed the arrest and released the body camera video Thursday morning.

The video shows an arrested sheriff’s deputy Koechner before the soldier arrived on the scene. The shutdown happened at 1:47 a.m. in a rural area near the Ohio-West Virginia State line on June 4, 2022.

The deputy said Koechner was on his way to Comicon in West Virginia when he was arrested for crossing the solid line multiple times.

“I had a few lane violations on him. He actually rolled over me pretty quickly behind me, came back. I guess he realized I was a deputy. I slowed down a bit, waited for him to pass, then stopped him,” the sheriff’s deputy says in the video.

Koechner told the soldier he drank a beer before getting behind the wheel to drive from Cincinnati to Huntington, West Virginia.

The soldier asked Koechner to perform a field sobriety test, which the soldier’s body camera shows. Koechner is then arrested.

The ticket issued shows that Koechner was charged with breaking three laws: operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under the influence of a prior conviction, and driving with a suspended license.

Koechner appeared in court on the charges on June 10.

He is set to co-host Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City again on June 24-25. This is a fundraiser for Children’s Mercy Hospital.
